I am back in the blogging world it seems. Apparently blogging is *in* again, so now that I know MAYBE seven people will read this blog, I decided it was worth the opportunity cost of my time (hello, high school economics).
Aside: If you thought the "'n'" in my title looked weird...well, so did I, but apparently it is grammatically correct. The word "and" is shortened to "'n'," with the apostrophes representing the deleted "a" and "d" (i.e. Rock 'n' Roll). "Mac 'n cheese" is wrong, y'all, so next time make sure to include the other apostrophe! (http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/26752/n-as-an-abbreviation-for-and-as-in-rock-n-roll)
Which brings me to another thought: "y'all." Apostrophes are used in place of a letter or group of letters, in this case the "ou" in "you." I never understood why people shortened "you all" to "ya'll." How does that make sense?? iPhone auto correct even corrects to "y'all," and whatever iPhone says is like THE rule or something now. I don't know- that's what a fifth grader told me the other day.... "Ya'll" is not acceptable; however, "all y'all" is always acceptable. (I'm from the south.)
Anyway...back to the topic of this blog post. I made homemade macaroni and cheese the other day for the first time. So I guess I'm not exactly an enthusiast since I've never made the cheese sauce myself before. Growing up, I was mainly enthusiastic about my grandma's homemade mac. And Kraft blue box. And Easy Mac. And basically all macaroni. Ergo...enthusiast. Anyway, my boyfriend and I made this macaroni & cheese bites recipe I found on Pinterest, and it was pretty awesome. My bag of elbow noodles made more than enough mac 'n' cheese bites, so we just ate the leftover mac 'n' cheese as is. The bites we sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese and popped in the oven. They were delicioso!
Today, I accompanied my other roommate to HEB. She bought macarons for her friend's birthday gift, and this made me think of how SO MANY PEOPLE incorrectly pronounce "macarons" as "macaroons," a TOTALLY DIFFERENT SWEET. I won't go into detail, just refer to these pictures from Google:

Everybody got it? Good- now go spread the word!!
By this time, you're probably wondering, 'Wait, is this a blog post about food or grammar/pronunciation?' Truth is, I don't even know anymore. But I do know that mac 'n' cheese will catch anyone's attention, which is why you're still reading all of this nonsense. Whether it inspired you to learn how to make homemade macaroni & cheese, or to speak and spell correctly, I think it's a win-win for everyone.
God bless.
