Green Juice Happy

Hey everyone!

For those of you who are into juicing, I have a great green juice recipe I just made tonight. It's slightly sour with a spicy bite to it. My husband and I (yes, husband! We just got married last month) are juicers. We just make our own recipes, and we particularly liked this one, so I thought I'd share!

I like to buy organic ingredients, but all of these ingredients come non-organic as well, so anyone can make it however they prefer. Make sure to wash your produce before juicing. We use a palm scrub brush for things like beets, carrots, and other roots that can sometimes still have dirt on them when you bring them home from the store.

RECIPE (makes juice for 2 people):
-5-7 stems of red leaf kale
-4 celery stalks
-2 golden beets (not the leafy stems)
-1 green apple (Granny Smith)
-2 peeled/skinned limes
-1 small piece of skinned ginger (You can use more if you like ginger. I'm not a ginger person, but I know it's good for you, and I wanted just enough to make the juice a bit spicy, so my piece was about a one-half inch cube of ginger)

Cut appropriately and juice all ingredients, in no particular order. The juice will turn out very green.  Sometimes we add chia seeds to our juices, but we didn't to this one. If you do choose to add chia seeds, make sure to let them soak in the juice for about 15 mins before drinking, so they have time to absorb the liquid and expand, and you get the most health benefit out of them.

If you are interested in juicing at home and are wondering which kind of juicer to buy, I would recommend the chrome Omega 8006 Nutrition System HD. It's small enough to where you could keep it out on the counter or island, or it doesn't take up much space hidden in the cabinet. It turns and churns produce as it juices, getting the most juice out as possible! We have really enjoyed ours.
